Marriage: Through Thick & Really Really Thin
Today marks 2 years of my new life as a Young. Now that I've been through 2 years, I think it's safe to say I know everything and carry with me all the wisdom needed to have a perfect marriage for the rest of time.
Just kidding, obviously. It's actually been two rocky years. I can honestly say the last two years have been the two hardest in my life. BUT, I've learned a lot. I was thinking the other day about a time in high school when I came home complaining about getting "yelled at" by my basketball coach. My dad sat me down and told me I should be honored they were yelling at me because they wouldn't waste time with a player that's going to "ride the pine" all season.
God works a lot like that. In James it says, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James 1:2-4
Even after some dark times, I count it PURE JOY to be chosen by God to be His daughter, heir, and on this earth- wife of Fleetwood Lionel Young IV.
I was going through some wedding videos, as one does on an anniversary, and I came across this speech my brother Adam gave. At the time it seemed like a nice sentiment. Today, it is a deep encouragement in a way I never expected. If you have a minute, you should listen:
And finally...here are some pictures from this past week. For our second anniversary, Fleetwood reserved us a house in Fredericksburg, TX- the cutest little German town. Adventuring with him I realize how lucky I am to have him. No matter what- we are committed to each other. We're committed to work through hard things, we're committed to support each other, and maybe most importantly- we're committed to having as much fun as we can. We're committed through thick and really really thin.
