Lisbon
Our first stop in Portugal was the capitol, Lisbon. We were told we must not miss a Fado walking tour, so that is precisely what we did. Plus, my family has a rule that you have to do something fun on the first night so when you look back on your trip it seems longer (#science).
Fado=sad music. It's a very unique sound. I'm trying to think of some words to describe it and i'm coming up with: forlorn, wailing, folksy. Maybe that doesn't sound great. To be honest, you're not going to put it on a running playlist but it was beautiful in it's own way.
We met at a hostel in downtown Lisbon and they served an amazing meal. (The whole evening cost about $22 a person and for all the food & free drinks they gave us, plus a really fun tour guide- we'll, let's just say we won that round.) We walked to different fado bars on cobblestone streets and you could smell saltwater everywhere you went.
It was so fun to see Delri & Pieter again, too. From the second they picked us up at the airport we were already laughing. Fleet & I are always surprised at how much they like us because they are way cooler than us. (Please no one tell them.)
Stay tuned for Day two- the craziest day of our adventure.
